It is upon us, one of the busiest weeks of the year for most American cities! Fireworks are flying, grills are lighting, and we get to celebrate the birth of our country. What better thing to celebrate than America? Sure, there are the political debates and the opinions of everyone on each side. However, that is not the topic this week. Instead, it is the fact that we live in the greatest country in the world!
Through my years in the Marine Corps I have been to many countries around the world and I can attest to how awesome America is. Just look around your world for a day and take in everything that we have at our fingertips. We have huge homes, huge cars, huge meals, and. . .well. . . everything in America is huge! Our society is not geared towards mediocrity, and there is no reason for it.
I will not go on and on about how amazing America is because we all know it. What I will say is that as you drive to the family get togethers, be careful and just have fun. Take this time to sit back and enjoy the freedoms that we share here in America. As you eat your hamburgers or steaks, think of how amazing it is that we have the ability to produce that much meat and vegetables that they are readily accessible to you in a grocery store. As those fireworks go off, think of the men and women that have fought for this country and kept her secure from outside tyrants. This is how our country was formed, through explosions and sacrifice.
Finally, as you sit there with you family, think of how amazing it is that you can sit there and enjoy them freely. You actually get to sit there, on a day off from a JOB, and just take in the freedoms that you take for granted every day. Enjoy the laughs of your kids running around in the sprinkler or your friends playing corn hole in the back yard. Take in the smell of the grill and the flash of the fireworks. This is our day to celebrate being the country that everyone else desires to live in!
